Jose Mourinho insists he wants Manchester United goalkeepers David de Gea and Sergio Romero to stay.
Jose Mourinho has warned David de Gea’s and Sergio Romero’s potential suitors that neither Manchester United goalkeeper is for sale.
The stoppers have been linked with moves away with De Gea reportedly a priority target for Real Madrid while Romero has been tipped for a move to Boca Juniors.
Romero has been playing second fiddle to De Gea for much of his United career, but Mourinho says he does not want to ruin a perfect goalkeeping situation at Old Trafford.
‘I cannot have a better goalkeeper than David, I cannot have a better replacement than Sergio,’ said Mourinho.
‘I cannot have a better professional than Sergio.
‘I want them both to stay.
‘So, if there is something true in relation to Boca, I will try to stop it because I want Sergio to stay.’
De Gea has continued to show he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world with his United performances.
Real were on the verge of signing the stopper two years ago before the deal collapsed at the final hour.
Romero is thought to be keen on a move back to his homeland, Argentina.
De Gea has missed just five of United’s games this season with the 26-year-old notching up nine clean sheets in total.
