2016 Ballon d’Or and FIFA ‘The Best’ winner Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid has been nominated for yet another major award. The Portuguese will battle it with other sportsmen for Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award.


The former Manchester United winger will need to beat sprinter Usain Bolt, Tennis star Andy Murray, Basketball stars Steph Curry and LeBron James and track athlete Mo Farah to become the first footballer ever to win the award.



The 31 year old has described 2016 as his best ever after helping Real Madrid win their 11th UEFA Champions League Crown, Portugal win the EURO for the first time, Uefa Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup for his club.

Members of the World media vote for the winner who will be announced in February 14th in Monaco.
